Poker House Rake

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Poker is a unique casino table game because unlike the other popular casino games such as roulette, craps, baccarat and blackjack where the casino house edge presents a competitive edge over the players, in poker there is no casino house edge. Instead the casino derives its income from the House Rake which represents the total amount of the commission that is levied on the prize pool which players compete for.

The Poker Room House Rake is also used by land-based and online casinos to determine the number of points that players are entitled to under the loyalty rewards program.  The higher the house rake, the higher the points players receive. Players with a substantial number of points can earn very attractive rewards.

There is no flat fee or fixed commission that is used to determine the house rake, instead casinos use complicated systems in order to determine the house rake that the dealer has to withdraw from the final pot. However, each poker room is required to maintain a rake structure and players are encouraged to get familiar with the rake structure have a look at this structure before signing into a poker room.

In the majority of Cash games or Ring Games, the house rake is a fixed percentage of each pot within specified limits and taking into account the number of active participants and the table stakes. In poker tournaments the house rake is taken from the buy-in fee which is usually 10% with the rest of the fee contributing towards the pot.

There are two main ways in which the house rakeis used in allocating loyalty points. The contributed method applies a more equitable system because players are credited loyalty points based upon the amount of money that they contribute into the pot.

The dealt method seems a bit unfair because all players that were dealt in the hand will receive the same amount of credit regardless of how much they contributed.. This means that players who take the flop and those that compete until the final shutdown receive the same credit for the hand.

Poker Hand Rankings

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Poker Hand Rankings

Poker Hand Rankings is a very critical factor used to determine a player’s odds of winning in a game of poker. Although there are many different variations of the game, the vast majority of all poker variations allow players to utilize the 5 card hand except in variations consisting of more than just the common five cards like 7Card Stud. In such cases, a hand can be made out of the best five cards. Poker hand rankings are divided into ten separate categories as detailed below:

  • High Card: The high card is used in circumstances where neither of two players achieves better cards such as pairs. In such a case, the player who holds the highest-ranking card is the winner. If there is a tie between two players the highest-ranking card is used to determine the winning player.
  • Pair: Relates to any two cards of equal rank such as two Queens. If there is a tie between 2 or more players, the winner is determined by taking into account the values of the rest of the 3 cards.
  • Two Pair: This relates to 2 unique pairs such as 2 Jacks and a pair of 2’s, or a pair of 10’s and a pair of 9’s.  In this example, the highest-ranking pair of cards wins that is the 2 Jacks and a tie is broken by taking into account the value of the remaining card, the highest card wins.
  • Three of a Kind: This relates to three similar ranking cards.  In a tie, the player with the Three of a Kind of the highest rank will be the winning player. For instance three 3’s beats three 2’s.
  • Straight: This occurs when 5 cards of a suit appear in numerical or sequential order. In such a type of a hand, it is permissible to use the Ace card as a low or high card as long as it appears before a 2 or after the King card.
  • Flush: A flush is five similar ranking cards for instance 5 cards in a set of diamonds, clubs, spades and hearts. A tie is broken by taking into account the value of the highest-ranking card.
  • Full House: If you have a pair and three of 2 Tens and 3 Kings, then you have a Full House. In order to break a tie, the highest-ranking three of a kind is used to determine the winner.
  • Four of a Kind:  This hand relates to four similar ranking cards such as four Queens. In order to break a tie, the highest-ranking set determines the winner.
  • Straight Flush: The straight flush consists of five similar suit cards sequential order.
  • Royal Flush: This hand is actually a straight flush but with all the cards in the same suit and involves the Jack, Ace, King and the 10.

Poker Ring Games

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A ring game is basically a normal non-tournament poker game requiring players to buy-in or add chips to their stack and cash out at any stage during the game. In a ring game, the chips represent real money, for instance, a player who purchases $20 worth of chips and cashes out $60 will have made a profit of $40. This is in sharp contrast to tournament events where a set buy-in is applicable and where players are eliminated when they lose their chips and rewarded based on the position they occupy at the end of the tournament. It is because of the dynamic nature of ring games that a special poker strategy has to be applied in order to be successful at this game. The general guidelines on ring games listed below are based on the assumption that you are playing the low stakes Limit Holdem game at a full table.

Starting Hands

In a ring game, a player can determine what starting hand they should play by checking to see whether the table is loose or tight. The table is said to be tight when the players are only playing their best hands pre-flop, in such a case the starting hand should be your best possible hand.  The table is considered loose if players are raising from a very early position, in such a case you can play almost any hand that you are comfortable with.

After the Flop

When you are playing after the flop, it is very important to be able to effectively interpret the behaviour of the players around you. Players have to be fully aware of what other players are doing and make their decisions based on their actions and tendencies. The best advice for a successful game after the flop is for you to concentrate, use your intuition, take your time and rely on your experience.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Inter Poker Review

InterPoker was launched in 2001 and most casino players may recognise this brand through its association with InterCasino.  Despite this link, the dull and simplistic visual interface at InterPoker made this online poker room a less desirable option for poker players. Since 2005 the InterPoker room has been transforming and the stability and functionality of the software have attracted a lot of traffic to the tables. Although the variety of games remains relatively low, one of the most popular games at InterPoker which attracts a lot of players in the poker room is Texas Hold’em. New poker players can take advantage of the soft competition at InterPoker tables to help them learn more about the games with lower stakes. There are also recurring monthly bonuses and guaranteed prize pools to the value of $4 million.

Software

InterPoker does not provide visually appealing graphics and used to be referred to as the ugly duckling of online poker rooms. However, the lobby is easy to navigate and the software is fast and reliable with a slower game speed which allows players to multi-table and to play more hands per hour. The settings incorporate customizable features which allow you to adjust colours, dealer voices, player location, card animations, , bet amounts and hand values. A game view history is a useful tool which helps you to keep track of the hands that you have played recently and to assist you in managing your bankroll more effectively.

Game Variety

InterPoker offers a mediocre game variety which includes Omaha Hi/Lo and Omaha in Fixed and Pot Limits, Texas Hold’em is available in Fixed Limit, Pot Limit and No Limit.  Texas Hold’em players can enjoy the heads-up game which is also available and the big stakes tables of up to $300 for fixed limits and up to $50 in no-limit are a definite plus.

Traffic

InterPoker has managed to attract a significant number of real money players with over 3500 players during peak hours and over 70% of this player traffic found in Texas Hold’em tables

Soft Competition

InterPoker is considered one of the best online poker rooms in terms of providing soft competition. It is ideal for new players trying poker for the first time or for players who prefer to play at medium stakes level.

Tournaments

There are several exciting tournaments at InterPoker such as Sit’n’Go tables for Texas Hold’em and scheduled Texas Hold’em games. Popular events include the Irish Poker Open, CAPT Austria and the Head-hunter Series which rewards players through the elimination process.

Promotions

At InterPoker, you can claim the sign-up bonus of 100% up to $150 and a $500 reload bonus.  The InterPoker “My Player Points” are loyalty reward points which can be earned through cash games. The InterPoker Hot Spot League is a popular promotion which rewards players with a $600,000 prize-pool which varies depending on the season.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
